Nice restaurant, friendly staff, the food was good but nothing special, there are other Italian Restaurants in St. Cath that serve great Italian food for far less money.
The experience at la Scala is quaint, quiet, and magical. The food is simply authentic Italian, done right, and has easily become one of my favorites in the area for a fancy dinner date :) I've been 5 times over the past year and have been blown away each time with their carefully curated locally sourced selections, and charming ambiance.
They have an intimate party room for larger functions and the service is impeccable. Extra bonus!! There is free parking in the back! Will definitely be back.
I made a reservation for my parent's wedding anniversary in advance a couple weeks prior. The owner and I came up with a set menu over the phone for a reasonable price. I had never been to this restaurant before but when I first walked in I thought it was a beautiful and cozy Renaissance-esque atmosphere. The food was excellent and there were ample proportions. The service was very friendly and considerate. I have no complaints whatsoever and the experience as a whole exceeded my expectations. My parent's were really happy and that's all that really mattered in the end. I will happily go back again. :)
nice restaurant. good food and good service, but very pricey. atmosphere could have been a little better considering the price we paid for the meal. turned out to be a main floor apartment of an old building in st. catharines. no matter though; the food was good; just pricey. even though i am a firm believer in getting what you pay for, although this restaurant is not my first choice. this is a quaint little getaway for the people that think they're better than everyont else; not for the common man looking to take his girl out and try (TRY) to impress her without going broke. try it, at least once, the food quality is worth it.

overall experience was nice. small portions for appetizers. the bruchetta was tasty. the caprese insalata was nothing special with 4 slices each of tomato, mozzarella and spinach drizzled with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. pasta dishes are worth $9.50. understandable that pasta was not homemade given the price. not likely to go back.
