Longtime friends Allison Mackeage and Andrea Rempel have always shared the same love of fashion. Growing up, they knew one day they would own a boutique together. In 2012, while living in Toronto, Andrea received a call from Allison saying she wanted to open Red Rouge Boutique in Alberta. “Basically, I was on the next plane out,” laughs Andrea.
“We share the same brain,” says Allison, which they often demonstrate by finishing each other’s sentences. This cohesiveness has been a great asset in their business partnership, as they share the same vision of what they want from a boutique store. They also both agreed to set up in their hometown of Sherwood Park. “We definitely find that the community likes to shop local,” says Allison. “However, when we shopped here we found there was a lot of the same things be offered. We wanted to offer something different to our customers.”
