Rocky Schermer is a third-generation wurstmacher, commonly called a sausage maker. So you could say that making quality meats is in his DNA. “I grew up around sausage and learning about how to make it,” says Rocky, the proprietor of Rocky’s Meats and Delicatessen. “I learned it from my dad. When I moved out to Calgary and missed the business, I opened up my own store.”
Rocky purchased a local deli and set about installing all the necessary equipment. Once he was set up, he got to work making the best sausages as well as dried and prepared meats. “What makes us so different is the quality of our meats,” Rocky says. “Quality meat and techniques are the most important aspects of making good products, and we have both.”
