Nursing a baby requires a mom’s attention, so she doesn’t want to be wrangling with unsuitable clothing while she’s nursing her baby. Since the mid-1990s, Niki Leslie of Breast is Best – Clothing for Nursing Mothers has been providing comfortable, practical and fashionable sleepwear for women in the latter stages of pregnancy and for moms with new babies. “I’m passionate about breast-feeding,” says Niki. “I don't know why anybody wouldn’t want to do it. I understand some mothers have difficulties so they can’t, but otherwise I think it is the way to go.”.
Attending trade shows over the years, Niki soon discovered that there was a need for practical clothing to help make nursing comfortable and discrete, something that just wasn’t out there. To meet this need, she sat down and started to design the clothing herself, her interior design background lending a hand. “Sometimes I’m sorting through merchandise and I wonder how I got into what I do,” she laughs. “All I know is that I believe in it and when I’ve helped a mom, it makes my day.”
