We had reserved tables for a large group of seniors and people in wheel chairs the staff was outstanding helping , easy to get into restaurant with chairs,the eating area was very nice service was five star and the food was perfect thanks again to Rhonda ,Brain and the wonderful staff
My husband and I are English and really enjoyed the halibut and chips. They were nicely cooked, generous portions and the wait staff were cordial and pleasant. We enjoyed ourselves and will return
Last nite we had Napanee Fish Chips. We have frequented this establishment over the past years, and found it quite good. New owners, and things change. Last nite, the quality was poor, couldnt finish eating the meal, it was so greasy. The fish was tough like it was overcooked, and the batter very greasy. Could not eat the french fries. Am not returning soon if at all. Very dissappointed. :(
This place is excellent . Even a person that is not a fish lover will change their mind. The Halibut is a sweet, mild fish and the haddock is also good. Very good staff who seem to know their stuff.
Its a fish and chip Joint. So do not expect luxurious dining! My wife and I are east coasters and have yet to find anything that matches down east fish and Chips....till now. The people are great, the food is superb, the portions are huge, the Haddock and Halibut are excellent. The chips are old style which we love. The atmosphere is very typical of a fish and chip joint. Price is fair considering that you will have to carry your stomach out with you after you eat the size of the meal they serve! We have visited the place every two weeks for a year. Any bad reviews must have hit a "bad day" because we go every Second Sunday and its been consistent and absolutely the BEST FISH and CHIPS in the area, bar none!! We live in Kingston and drive there because there is nothing like it in Kingston, its worth the drive!! I give it 5 for atmosphere because I think that its as good as you get when your speciality is fish and chips Girls serving the tables were friendly and nice Food, what can I say, when a BlueNoser says its Fantastic, its Fantastic!!
We travelled from Brockville, Ontario to try it out the fish & chips. The service was friendly, and quick. The halibut was a large portion perfectly cooked with a thin, crispy batter. The greek salad was excellent, and the dressing was homemade. We asked about there dessert selection, and the waitress said the assorted cream pies, rice pudding, and butter tarts were made from scratch daily on site. We had chocolate cream pie, and you could tell it was homemade. The crust was flaky, and just amazing. The owners Brian & Rhonda introduced themselves to us when we paid the check. They were very nice people. We will definitely make this a stop in Napanee when travelling the 401.
Had my second meal there last week and was not disappointed. Food was very good - yes, it's greasy but it's fish and chips! I don't each such food very often so it was a real treat. Staff is friendly and efficient, service was good. No pretences, no snooty atmosphere, just generous portions of good food. And the best Greek salad I have ever had! I think the secret is in the dressing and how I wish I could have that recipe. Highly recommended if you are hungry in Napanee!
AllanF (see previous review) may have just been unlucky on that visit, or maybe they went downhill since Wednesday night, when I visited. The haddock was fine, ditto for the batter, and the portion was so large I couldn't get more than halfway through it. It was boxed for me and was supper the next night too! Once again though I was disappointed, as with many establishments, to find that there were no local brews available. Didn't check the wine list, but I would hope that with their proximity to all the wineries in the area that they would have a few.
Wha hoppen??????? That's what I asked my next table neighbour last week when I dropped in for my fix of fish & chips. The quality has plummeted to say the least!!! The first bite of a french fry seemed a little bit soggy but I just disregarded it because the food here has been so great in the past. So, let's try the fish. If you can believe this the fish (haddock) was tough!!! and the batter cooked to an impenetrable crunchiness. New owners here???? I may come back, maybe.
It's Napanee. It's fish and it's chips. Fresh cut fries, heavy batter fish.
One of the best fish and chip shops in the area. Maybe a little greasy but that's why they taste so good. Waitresses are friendly very accommodating. We drive from Kingston to eat there at least once a month.
I had never been to this restaurant before, but my brother & sister had, & my brother, my sister-in-law, my aunt & cousin & I went there last month on the way home from Denbigh to Kingston, because they said the Fish 'n Chips were great. They were right! I had the Cod, they had the Haddock, & the chips were homemade, cut fresh in the kitchen. Great big pieces of fish! Lots of chips. Could hardly eat them all. The waitress, can't remember her name, was the best. Found out her life story while she served us, and she was funny besides. Great service. She even gave me a 2nd cup of tea, with a fresh tea bag. Not just more hot water. Lots of washrooms, too. If I had a car, I'd go again soon. Two thumbs up.
This is - without a doubt - one of the very best (if not the best) fish & chip restaurants I've ever visited. Period.
This was my 2nd trip to Napanee Fish and Chips, it was fantastic. The food is light and crispy, far from greasy. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
super greasy, you can see the fryers as soon as you come in the doors, the waitresses are old and unfriendly. The food was so so and very cheap, that was the good part
