With only 2 vegetarian items on the menu, and a wedding party in the middle of their meal when we arrived, the odds of a great experience were not high but what a great surprise - two 10 out of 10 mains - a sage, beet risotto and a chickpea/cauliflower curry with roasted vegetables. Add attentive service and it all made the trip to midland more than worth it.
The food was very good...above average in fact. It is quite unfortunate that the service was so poor. When there are only a couple tables for lunch, it shouldn't take 45 minutes after you finish to finally receive your bill even after asking for it multiple times.
We went for lunch and it was really awful. I had soup and sandwich and the soup tasted like part canned and some old vegtables thrown in. The sandwich had a tiny smear of butter and thin lousy quality bread. I did complain to the waitress and she didn't say anything about it.
I went before and was disappointed in the very dry pasta I received. I heard they have new owners now and that it is much improved, so I gave them another shot! The one thing that has to be the same though is that it is a small place. New patio adds room, for the summer! On my second attempt at dining at the Library, the food was much improved!

Food will match the best restaurants in downtown Toronto but at less than half the price. The spinach salad is the best we've ever had. Oddles of noddles is a spicey asian dish with seafood. The duck is the best in Simcoe county. The flourless chocolate torte alone brings us back here time and time again. Oh yes, the service is excellent!
First things first - the food was great. The lamb and duck were perfectly cooked and very tasty.
The one thing I have to complain about is the house wine. We chose it because we like Carmenere and we didn't want a whole bottle. Well, it tasted like it was homemade in the basement a week before serving - truly, a bad experience for such an upscale establishment. This stuff should not be served with this quality of food. Period. It detracted from the eating experience rather than enhancing it.
The rest of the wine list is quite good and has typical mark-up costs. In hindsight we would have picked differently.
This was our first visit as we're from out of town --- what a hidden gem! The food was wonderful , as was the service. Would definitely go back and recommend it to friends.
Just wondering --- why it is listed under cusine as Indian? If anything, it should be Bistro?!
