Excellent food at a very reasonable price; friendly atmosphere that makes you feel welcome.
We had an absolutely atrocious meal last night at at Mykonos. The pork souvlaki was overcooked, dry and tasteless, the lamb in the lamb pita dish was dry, very tough and basically inedible and the seafood grill was a meagre serving and not at all as advertised. The roast potatoes were very dry, the salad was limp with a light shaving of feta and tasteless dressing and the basmati rice was soggy and a completely inappropriate accompaniment for a Greek meal. The bread and wine were fine.
My husband and I are not fans of chain restaurants and are always looking for a family owned place to eat. I am so glad we chose Mykonos last night. The service was great, very friendly with good suggestions on what to try. I ordered the vegetarian platter so I could try a little bit of everything and I loved everything on the plate. My husband had the chicken souvlaki and said it was very good. For dessert we shared a custard topped with phyllo that was very yummy. Try the Greek beer, it is very light and suits the food well. I would highly recommend this restaurant, food was very good and high quality, service was friendly and though the tables are a little cramped together the atmosphere was wonderful. You could tell there were a lot of regulars as everyone was talking to each other and truly enjoying their meals.
First time visit so I was really looking forward to it. It was a busy Friday night and the sitting was quite cramped. As it was very cold and wet we chose not to sit out on the covered patio. The interior was okay -- very basic, like eating at your aunt's house but I loved the open kitchen. Food was wonderful -- grilled cod, roasted potatoes, the salad was just okay. The others had grilled shrimp (amazing) the veggie platter (huge and good) and fish and chips (hard to mess up and they didn't) It was the service that was the pits. We had an older lady who was direct and blunt in everything she said -- no happy smile or suggestions, everything was 'yes sir' 'no sir' the food was good but Mythic Grill beats them hands down
I used to love going here for the food as it was close to my favourite place in Toronto - Christina's. Sadly, in the past few years, the quality has really suffered. Everything seems to come right out of the microwave and heated unevenly and soggy. A real shame
My family and I discovered Mykonos last year and it has been a great new addition to the resteraunts we visit here in London. The menu covers everything from traditional Greek food to a WIDE selection of seafood and has some of the best halibut in the city. We just LOVE it. It is cozy, and the servers are attentive and have always been able to answer questions we have about the menu.
We went there for a birthday lunch and it lived merrily up to our expectations. Reasonably affordable, lots of choice, and quite tasty entrees. Friendly service. Some parking available on the premises. This is Mom 'n Pop restaurant dining at it's best. I love supporting locally owned restaurants and choose these over chains any day. Everything tasted like it was made from scratch. True, the atmosphere is not fancy. True, the food lives up to it's reputation of homemade goodness. In particular, we thought the pastitsio and moussaka were especially tasty - YUM-O! We look forward to returning.
One of my favourite restaurants when living in London. The atmosphere is great and the food is so good. The staff are so friendly and attentive. The price is unbelieveable; you would expect to pay so much more but it is so reasonable.
I'm surprised by some of the negative reviews here. I've probably had 100 meals here and very rarely experienced even minor disappointment. We had dinner here again last night and thoroughly enjoyed it! The owner, Heidi, is the driving force behind this restaurant's enviable success. She's a sweet, kind and caring woman who warms the place up and treats all her customers as if they were her personal guests. It's so rare to experience this level of service anymore. I definitely rate Myknonos as one of London's best!
I agree with LondonGuy Food is horrible, and the place smells a little funny... Its difficult to even enjoy a drink when your cant even breath properly in the stench... wont return..
My boyfriend and I visited the restaurant last month. First of all, the construction around the entire street made it extremely difficult for parking etc. The food was DISGUSTING. We both got a greek salad and he got the pork souvlaki. The only plus was the wine.
We always choose Mykono's for our family celebrations & whenever we want great Greek food! We have tried several other Greek restaurants, but none matches-up to Mykono's! This place w/ it's personable staff, nice atmosphere, reasonable prices, and again - great Greek food - has been our family favorite for 3 decades now.
This has got to be one of my favourite restaurants. They treat my friends and me like family every time we go. The food is quick, fresh, and amazing! The staff is always friendly and helpful, the food is always fresh and cooked well, and I personally think the eclectic decor is really cute. On the food, my boyfriend says their hamburger is one of the best he's had. Supposedly the fish and chips can be a bit heavy/greasy, but I've only had the vegetarian items and they've always been fantastic. I also love that they have an authentic greek salad (no lettuce). If you're looking for really good greek food and a nice atmosphere, check this place out.
I'd always heard amazing things about Mykonos from friends and family, so we went for my mom's birthday last month. It was not a very busy night, less than half the tables were occupied and they seemed very overstaffed for the evening. Our drinks took quite awhile to arrive, there was a nice variety in the appetizer sampler. It might have been helpful to improve their service to explain the platters, I'm familiar with most Greek foods, but my parents were asking what everything was. I found the decor more than a bit tacky... Food was good, nothing too special, presentation could be much better but it was traditional Greek food, can't really go wrong with taste there. I wouldn't avoid this restaurant, but it wouldn't be my first choice again.
Stopped here on October 11 or a whim (driving along adelaide). We were seated in the patio. The server was Very helpful in accommodating our party of 5 (ranging in age from 4-60). All the food was terrific. The tomatoes on the salad were fresh and very ripe. I enjoyed the Kalamarakia Yemista that I ordered. But the nicest part was that our server overheard us talking about my wife's birthday. She offered to provide the birthday desert with sparklers, etc. I was very impressed that server was so attentive that she'd picked up on the birthday issue. We never actually asked about birthday treats. That is a very good sign. Note to the owners (if you read this). I do not recall the servers name, but she was really terrific. You have an excellent group of employees! We'll be back.
i loved the food the service was grate we had a 2 year old with us and they where really good with her food was really fast and really good its a gem
The Mykonos platter was a variety tasting of authentic greek cuisine . It was absolutely wonderful. The calamari dinner was not only abundant, it was the best calamari that I've ever had. So very tasty. We also had some sort of baklava that was almost like a shredded wheat with honey. It was to die for!!
Lovely family style; server suggested patio, which was nice to hear. Good value for money, seems to be authentic and freshly prepared. Server friendly and helpful when asked for suggestions. Will definitely visit again. The (enclosed) patio experience is best if you don't sit facing the doorway to the parking lot! Good food, not over-spiced or reheated.
I agree with a previous post of the food being dry, over-cooked, and reheated. My husband and I enjoy visiting Greek restaurants around South Western Ontario, as we frequent many cities for work, and love Greek food! I don't usually rate the restaurants we visit, but I thought I would do everyone else a favour, and what I wish I had been advised, that it's not worth your time or money. Utterly unimpressed.
i thought fish and chips was british, but they convinced me that it is Greek.
