I love this restaurant on any day of the week but had to entertain an out of town guest this Friday night. Had bacon gnocchi and it was indescribable until the owner asked me if I was having "little pillows of heaven". Apt description for a garlic cream sauce with bacon on gnocchi.
We decided to try this restaurant for our wedding anniversary. After ordering our appetizer, the deep fried pickle, it came, we ate and then the waitress seeing that I had finished, swooped in and grabbed my plate and the serving plate with the dipping sauce. This would not be a problem except my spouse had NOT FINISHED EATING HER"S.
After dinner the server asked if we wanted dessert. My spouse ordered the creme brulee. I ordered the cheesecake. This is a NO BRAINER in the restaurant business. $6 for a little sweet!
The creme brulee came and I thought it was strange that my cheese cake didn't come at the same time. My spouse finished the dessert at my insistence saying that mine would be there shortly. The next time the server appeared she asked if we wanted anything else or the bill.
This restaurant needs work. The food was generally good. The devil's pot was an overpriced stir fry. My spouse had the blackened salmon which was satisfactory but 'over-sauced'.
Someone needs to take charge of the wait staff. I will not return nor recommend this establishment to anyone I know.
Tom and Helen are great hosts and you can tell that they put their heart into ever dish and organized event that they hold atr the Main. Right from their opening (recently) their food has been delicious! I recall the first meal I had at the restaurant, a club tyope wrap I think, and trying my hardest to eat the whole thing after being full because it tasted that good!!
This is not a fancy spot but certainly clean and well maintained. It was Jack's formerly and the interior has been rejigged to look a bit more pub-like.
The fired pickles and dipping sauce is so yummy!!!!
The wine list is good but can be pricey (sale nights for $6 wine by the glass).
