Great service, Great Food and a Great atmosphere. We love eating here and so do the kids. Cannot wait to come back and have a Rita Corinita on the Best Patio in K-Town!!!!
Ordered the tacos from this establishment. In terms of mexixcan fare, they did not have the usual that I tend to order at Mexican restaurants which is the Chicken Enchilada. I think they may have changed their menu since I was there several years ago. Anyway, what really turned me off in terms of my meal was that they put BBQ sauce in the taco. Who puts BBQ sauce in their tacos? Salsa makes more sense. Also, I found their portions to be HUGE and price to match. I would rather pay less and get a smaller portion. Both my husband and I ended up bringing about half of our food back home to eat the next day. I guess this may work for some but I always find that the food doesn't taste as good the next day - although in this case it did not even taste good the first time around.
Fun atmosphere, reasonable food, excellent service. It was our first time and we will go back. Great Margaritas! Only complaint was the Con Queso dip, supposedly with tomatoes, peppers etc in it, that tasted like Cheese Whiz--they need to spice it up and actually put some chunks of vegetables in it that you can see. Otherwise a very fun evening and good value.
Excellent service, lots of great food, well priced. Who could ask for anything more?.We will definitely go back to this restaurant on our future visits to Kingston.
Visited Lone Star last night after seeing a movie. Although it was around 9pm, usually a very busy time at the LS, we were able to get a booth within minutes. Our waiter was very quick and efficient and did a good job. We had the con queso dip with our chips 'n salsa and it was good although the temperature was only warm and I noticed it is now served in a different dish and the quantity has definitely decreased for the same price. My husband had the Big Burrito which he reported was very good and filling. I had the veggie fajitas which were very good but again, the quantity has definitely decreased while the price has increased. Still, very good and filling. The best part of the LS is the free chips 'n salsa and the servers always seem to replenish these when asked for no charge which is such a plus...but I always eat too many so am half full by the time my meal comes! I've always found the LS to be a fun, albeit noisy, place to dine with good food and will be back for sure. I should also mention that the upstairs is a great casual place to hang out with friends for a few drinks...not quite bar atmosphere yet not quite restaurant and it has two pool tables.
Truly the place to eat in kingston. The server was charming, humerous and very attentive to our needs. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was quite cozy. My sweetie was so relaxed and very echanted by her tasty dish, that she wanted to pay!
The place was ok. Our server was too busy to serve us, we felt like it was an inconvenience to her to ask for anything. Which is a management issue, she shouldnt have had so many tables. The food was just ok. Not great!. The steak was overcooked, the taco salad was missing things, the chimi wasnt hot, fajitas were the only thing that could be called "good". Overall we werent satisfied with the experience.
After a hot afternoon of walking the tourist routes in downtown Kingston, we decided to go to the oasis of The Lone Star. The place was quite nice but the music was loud. I guess the place is really the wrong fit for me -I do not eat the chips and salsa, drink alcohol, nor eat fajitas. So I decided upon and large glass of cold milk (which wasn't very cold) and the burger. The burger was huge but was very hard, dry and tasteless. Fries with it were cool and not inspired. Others in the party said the fajitas were not up to par -onions and peppers missing from the plate of meat. When we were ready to eat, had to call waitress to give us knives and forks. So I will not be talked into going there again. There are many other Kingston sites to better serve my tastes and meet my expectations. As I said, it was not really a good match for me.
- i've been to Lonestar dozen of times and always with friends-- never my idea. I always have a mediocre time but this evening particular ticked me off - tacky service, yes, I have been to Lonestar-- and yes, I know that you specialize in margaritas, fajitas, etc - upselling instead of suggesting ideas to compliment meal - rice was hard, complained and brought new rice - fish was mediocre, and presentation was pathetic - loud, obnoxious atmosphere including a server who hostess who yelled at us - server was unattentive and quirky looking - manager stopped by and offered no eye contact but asked if everything was okay - bartender looked uninterested and unenthusiastic - kitchen staff looked homely and unkept
Well lets say we all have our days. When we go to a restaurant like Lone Star, you expect to be treated like gods and other days just human like. It really all depends on what you feel like. The sservice there is outstanding, second to none. The staff are always kind and show their clients such respect. I will say that the building can be pretty darn cold at times, but that is not the staff's doing. Thats the management side of the coin. I also agree it can be pretty loud there, but come on look at the size of the place. You have to expect that to some degree. The food to me is an 8 in rating. I think the mangement has to keep closure tabs on the Kitchen staff. As far as the chips go, if you don't want them don't eat them. I have found some days (rare) they have been stale or too salty. I just ask for a fresh basket. One last point Buckshot, Salsa, and Sarah have been outstanding staff. I would highly recommend Buckshot to anyone. His professionallism is of outstanding nature, regardless if you come in as a family, a couple or by yourself. thanks Regular Visitors
We made a reservation for my 19th birthday and it went well...the service was really good. I took a strawberry daquiri and then the texas size margarita with the 2 shots of tequila and 1 shot of grand marnier...got sick!!!! The drink is really really sweet...you feel like you drink pure sugar. So if you have a sensitive stomach, beware! They helped me out and told me what to do. I didn't eat since I was sick off the margarita, but everyone liked their food and I went back tonight and the fajitas were SO GOOD!!! Recommend it!! :-) Good experience!
FANTASTIC!!!!! WE ALWAYS CHOOSE TO GO TO LONESTAR - GREAT PLACE!!! WONDERFUL FOOD AND A GREAT ATMOSPHERE
chicken chimachangas blah! fish n' chips don't order in a Tex Mex place, wrap good, fajheta as usual great!
Free warm tortilla chips and homemade salsa a bonus; make your own tortilla shells in the fajita making machine; mixture of steak and chicken with lots of sides; server was great, very friendly. Visiting from Niagara Falls; we would come again!
