Phazes Tanning & Beauty Salon

Being her own boss was always in the cards for Laura Faye. “Since I was young I always wanted to be an entrepreneur," she recalls. "Ever since I was 12, I would sell things to teachers at school and to friends’ parents." In 2014 Laura got her wish when she opened Phazes Tanning and Beauty Salon. She had bought a salon in Surrey, but being a born and bred Maple Ridge resident, she wanted to move it closer to home. “I knew a lot of people in Maple Ridge, so I thought, 'better to work for myself than to work for someone else, building their dreams.'”

Her original plan was to open a tanning-only salon, but she soon became interested in other beauty services as well. “The space that I found was big enough to house all these other services, and I thought to myself how beneficial it would be to come to a salon and get more than one service done in one setting.” Laura's unisex salon caters to all ages and offers tanning, esthetics, hair and acupuncture.
