Bought used car from dealership & had it rustproofed by Pro-Tech Seal. Per the guarantee, every 2 yrs I had the car inspected by the dealer and the inspection report was forwarded by them to Pro-Tech Seal.Now, the seams at the bottom of the front doors & rocker panel are rusting.Pro-Tech Seal claims that these areas of the car are not covered by the guarantee although the “terms and conditions” of my contract do not exclude these areas. They will use any excuse to not pay. Waste of $$$

I had rust proofing applied to my new Honda at purchase. There was a lapse in the middle where the car was not able to be rust proof checked at the dealer. However it was checked 18 months ago and there was no rust or issues. Recently rust showed and pro tech denied my claim (400 repair estimate) because of a the lapse years ago.

Better Options that Pro Tech

I got the Pro Tech seal treatment on my brand new Honda in 2004 from the Honda dealer. It cost me about $900 CAN. I was not told by the dealer that I had to take my car to the Pro Tech shop (i don't even know where that is) every two years to have the car inspected for my ten year warrany. Pro Tech never sent me reminders as well. The onus is on the owner to ensure that the car is inpected every two years or the warranty is automatically voided. Bottom line: Find a local shop that does rust proofing and it costs about half. You can take the car back to the local shop every year to have it inspected. If you want to talk to Pro Tech , you have to call then in Edmonton. There is nothing superior which I saw with Pro Tech except the price.
