Susan Hunt knows she’s doing something right when a UK-born customer remarks that her fish and chips are the closest thing to a taste of home. It’s high praise for the owner of Sea Fish N Chips in the southeast community of McKenzie Towne. It often comes from British expats, who love their English-style battered haddock and chips. Many have become regulars at the restaurant she and husband Ian Pangborn opened in 2010.
It’s been Susan’s dream to open a fish-and-chip restaurant, and Sea Fish N Chips fits in nicely with the spirit of the neighbourhood’s main thoroughfare. High Street is also home to a British candy shop and a UK pub. “That’s why we fit so well here,” she says. “I love this area. McKenzie Towne is great.”
